Sentencing Guidelines

The average penalty you can expect to receive is proportionate to the amount you were speeding by. Usually, the courts either issue a fine and points or a fine and a ban. Rarely will someone get a ban as well as points (you will always get a fine though).

This table shows the guidelines THE COURT use when dishing out sentences and gives you an idea of what you can expect to receive should you be found guilty:

As you can see, a 1 mph difference in the alleged speed can make the difference between points or a ban. For Example, if traveling in a 60mph zone look at what the court guideline is for 80mph, and compare that to 81 mph...
