1. What is Licence Shield and what are the benefits
Licence shield, is a legal protection ‘Motor Offence Insurance’ policy, which may cover the reasonable legal costs incurred if you are accused of a motoring offence.  NOTE; alleged offences must have been committed within the period of insurance.

Our lawyers (although you can choose your own) have a 90% success rate in defending an allegation and 95% success in avoiding a ban.  This is based on over 3,000 cases over the last few years.

3. List of offences covered
All motoring offences that are punishable by penalty endorsement with the exception of any one or combination of the following; driving under the influence of drugs (including alcohol), dangerous driving, causing death/bodily harm or any form of deliberate criminal act such as theft.

Pleas in mitigation are also covered when you are at risk of a ban.

4. During check out, I don’t understand the question about;
Points on my licence
This question asks exactly how many points you currently have on your licence, we’re only interested in points during the last 3 years, as after then the points ‘expire’. The rationale behind the question is that the underwriter (the company who takes the ‘risk’ on the policy) perceives those with more points on their licence as more likely to claim.

What Car I drive
This is an optional question that helps us understand our customer, we're thinking about removing it due to confusion it sometimes causes. The policy does not cover you in any one car...but in any motorised vehicle that you are legally allowed to drive.
